Grrrrr fanart

I realize for the crap of me I cannot draw fanart. I mean, yeah, okay, Patronus has like over 700 favs, but that was just one of those right mood right moment kind of things. Fanart is so hard! You have to keep true to the character but somehow make your work still unique. So here I am, searching a million pictures of characters I want to fanart because they have to look like themselves............. it's hard getting used to drawing things other than Katherine............... maawwwr. And for the LIFE of me, I can't draw group pictures. EPIC FAIL[ure]. Screw this, I am in a bad mood. (Oh, but how I adore Luck from Baccano! + ten other characters). Perhaps I'll just draw a single portrait for everyone. But when I start going here, the "why bother, it's fanart don'tspendsomuchtimeonit" switch turns on my brain. GAAAH, summer's almost over and I've only drawn ONE picture of Katherine. How is this possible? I had two weeks during winter break and I popped out TWO decent pictures. EPIC FAILURE squared. Also, why is coloring on the laptop so hard? Am I just putting up a mental barrier for myself because the screen is too small? EPIC FAILURE cubed.

Also, I got my first semester schedule. At this point, looks like I'm taking econ, calc, history (strategy, policy and war), and a writing seminar called "Deviance in Drama". At my school, writing seminars are a requirement, but it's really difficult getting into one because there are only so many classes, and there's a million students wanting to get in one. My first FOUR choices were all taken. I absolutely wanted to get into this seminar that focuses on revenge, or this other seminar that explores "the outlaw" in literature. The one I'm in is about... I'm not quite sure... something about the dark side of drama, and how it is essential for the art of storytelling. Maybe. You "write plays about essays and essays about plays"- according to my brochure. Yippee. The most tragic part of it all, however, is that I don't have an art class. I had to remove Drawing I from my schedule to fit in the writing seminar. And they won't let me have 5 classes because it exceeds our maximum credit load. WHO DO THEY THINK THEY ARE??? Well, well, well...

... and I'm starving. I will eat and brood, brood and eat. Yes, emos are welcome to join.

Well...I'm agree, that fanart is "right mood right moment kind of things", but often to draw fanart is easier, than something original. Maybe, it is my lack of originality? I don't know...:sigh:

And I wish you good luck with 'Aramus Inc.' =)

I know what you mean. I have a hard time with fanart sometimes too because I'm anal retentive about maintaining the characters the way they are. Otherwise it might as well be an original character that looks similar to the fandom character.

And that sucks about your semester classes. I have a friend who's going through something similar. He's taken every class he needs except the ones he can't get into because there's only one professor for them or something... and it's required of all art majors to graduate. >_> At this rate, it'll take him a few more years than a typical college student to graduate because he can't register for the classes he needs. -_-

Kazuo: Those... those're wiretaps! Uwaah! Those perves listened to me busting a solo on my meat flute last night!
Nobuto: F***, man. In my case it was a duet.
Toki: Uh, you guys are missing the point...

No art class?! Exactly what you said: who do they think they are :( bastards...It's not like you're in high school, anymore, so why should they care how many classes you take? argh

Hmm, so still having trouble with the baccano fan art, eh? I hardly ever do fanarts for that same reason XD The one I just did barely looks like the character >.<

I think it depends. For me, drawing fanart in original poses or settings is difficult.

That sucks about your friend. I think it's only first semester that they don't let freshmen take more than 4 classes. But still... it's annoying.

Really? That's weird. We were allowed to take as many classes as we wanted as long as we could handle it. Though we had to fill out forms if we wanted to overloads (6 classes).
