twitter account

Journal Entry: Wed Nov 18, 2009, 1:27 PM

I got a twitter account out of randomness yesterday. My friend convinced me to do it because she said it was like "texting to yourself". I don't text that often, I'd say I'm in the middle within my age group, but sometimes texting is like receiving a small gift of distraction. And sometimes I'll have random thoughts that are interesting, but not really, so you don't know what to do with them. So twitter's going to be my outlet for that. I love how you don't have to spend more than a minute on it, which is nice when I've got a short attention span at times.

So here's the link to my account: [link]

I promise I'm still working on art. College is causing me to be MIA, but it's going to be winter break soon, and I've been working a bit on stuff.

I am happy to announce that I'm finished with my Hungary costume! Okay, so there are a few mistakes, and the craftsmanship is somewhat low, but overall, I am pleased with my costume. It feels good to make something, rather than to have someone make it for you halfway around the world. It's annoying to wait for that costume to arrive, and who knows if it'll fit? So anyway, I'll actually be doing more digital again, now that this project is finished. YES.

So my sewing machine stopped working. I should have paid attention to the negative reviews and invested in a real sewing machine, rather than a $14 hand-held one! Too bad for me, especially since I'm almost done with my costume. Well, I hope the one I ordered tonight will work and continue working after two weeks. The one I just bought was labeled as "refurbished" on amazon.com, so it's not exactly a brand new sewing machine, but with the money I have right now, "refurbished" is about the only I can afford. Fortunately, this particular seller has good reviews, so I hope my case stays true to that.

Making my own costume is hard, but also a lot of fun. Actually, I enjoy sewing more so than working on photoshop! I am extremely impatient when it comes to drawing and coloring on the computer. I guess I like sewing. Speaking of which, it hurts when you accidentally stab your finger with a needle!

So, it is 1 am in the morning (the night is still young :P ), I am sitting in my room, a bit hungry, wearing an outfit I do not want my parents or anyone else to see me it. It is what I have so far of my costume, which consists of an open bodice held together by a hairclip, a poofy sleeve that can easily be ripped apart- because I've only basted-, no sleeve on the other arm, a poofy skirt. The ensemble is held together by a belt, but between my "dress" and belt is my white summer dress, acting in place of an apron.

I think I am making much progress.

Okay, so what is this costume? Lately I've been inspired by a lot of people online and at dA who have cosplayed as Hungary from the web manga/anime Hetalia. A burning desire gripped my heart and alas! XD But no, seriously, I needed something entertaining and hopefully rewarding to keep me busy over the summer.

However, every project has its difficulties, and with this one, it's finding a decent wig. Hungary has ash/light brown colored hair. Even though my hair looks similar to hers, I decided not to dye my hair for this summer because I was afraid of damages. Instead, I opted for a wig that's not too expensive. I purchased one from ebay a week or two ago, but it turned out to be exactly the same color as my hair: dark brown. So I went online again, and bought another wig. Except this time, I was stupid and bought the wrong wig! I contacted the seller, asking them to change my order, if they can. At the same time, I am not really concerned because both wigs would be okay. I can't even make up my mind on which one is better, because each has its pros and cons. Meanwhile, it's been two days since I contacted seller, and he/she hasn't replied back. So... I guess it's going to be a surprise for now. Some people might call it fate. I just hope I'm not wasting my money TT_TT .

Not doing much right now, except a part-time job and drawing when I am in the mood. Actually, I am currently working on another Hetalia fanart. I didn't plan on it, but I was suddenly inspired. Yep. And of course I've been playing lots of video games, mainly Final Fantasy X, X-2 (yay dress spheres!!!), and Kingdom Hearts II. I just came back from Disneyworld, and so that prompted me to play KH. Btw, I realize I've been missing out with the whole magical experience. This was my first time to that theme park, and it was amazing! I thought I'd be bored and feeling patronized, but I was wrong. So yeah, go there if you ever get a chance.

So yeah, just saying hi. It's nice and cool where I live, as opposed to where I go to school. We don't even need air conditioning! (As of now, anyways). And finally, I felt an urge to do commissions, but I think I need to improve my art skills before I do that.
